We’re excited to share a major milestone for SparkPoint and the community we serve. SparkPoint has expanded with a new branch at Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, bringing vital financial support directly to campus.
Starting January 2026, SparkPoint will offer services designed to help students stay in school and succeed. These include budgeting support, credit counseling, and one-on-one financial coaching. Services will be available not only to students, but also to staff and faculty, strengthening the entire campus community.
This expansion also allows SparkPoint to better identify and report key barriers students face, including homelessness, system-impacted experiences, and economic hardship. By understanding these challenges, we can connect individuals to the right resources and advocate for stronger support systems.
Looking ahead, there is exciting potential for growth. Future services may include Career Services workshops, Tax Clinics, and Tax Education workshops, further expanding access to tools that support long-term stability and success.
With this new location, SparkPoint Contra Costa is now present at all colleges within the Contra Costa Community College District. SparkPoint follow its mission to meet people where they are and build pathways to opportunity across the county.
