An Event to Benefit Equity for Black Women & Girls

On Friday, April 24th, 2026 from 6:30pm to 10pm at Contra College, join us for Angry Black Woman 101, a bold, award-winning solo performance written and performed by Kathryn Seabron presented in partnership with Mechanics Bank.

About the Show

Angry Black Woman 101 pulls no punches. Through storytelling, poetry, vignettes, and multimedia, Kathryn Seabron draws from her own lived experience to illuminate the everyday realities Black women navigate — misogynoir, microaggressions, racial and gender bias, and the all-too-common weaponization of white women’s tears to silence Black women’s voices.

Directed by Lynn Vidal and presented by Mechanics Bank this production is raw, visceral, and necessary.

The performance will be followed by a community panel discussion designed to deepen understanding of race and gender dynamics in American life and to renew our collective commitment to self-empowerment, empathy, and equity.

Why Equity for Black Women and Girls (E4BWG):

Less than 1% of community dollars support Black women and girls in Contra Costa County. RCF Connects’ Equity for Black Women and Girls Initiative aims to change that leaders to build generational wealth, by putting funding, training, and safe spaces in the hands of Black women entrepreneurs and community.

Launched in October 2020 at the recommendation of Board Chair Dr. Cynthia LeBlanc, the initiative’s commitment is simple: Black women and girls will be seen, heard, and served.
