Housing First

Man kneeling down to pain a sign on a large bright yellow wall that says, "Housing is a Human Right"

Our Housing First model is an approach that prioritizes providing safe, stable, long-term housing to unhoused community members and building a community of support around them from which they can pursue personal goals and improve their quality of life. This approach is guided by the belief that housing is a human right and that all people need housing, food, and health services before considering employment, education, or other goals. The approach is based entirely upon a person’s choice in housing selection and supportive service participation, and that exercising that choice will support their success in remaining housed and achieving their goals. The program provides up to 12 months of rental payments to help individuals and families. The program also provides hotel/motel vouchers on an emergency and short-term basis to provide support to move individuals and families experiencing homelessness as rapidly as possible into permanent housing
