Position

The Director of Finance oversees the finance function at RCF Connects. As a member of the leadership team, this individual serves as critical support to the development and program teams and as a strategic thought partner to the Co-CEOs, bringing analytical and strategic thinking to the intersection of key areas of organizational operation. The Director of Finance also works closely with all Program Directors and Managers and will be the liaison to the Finance and Audit Committees of the Board of Directors. He/she/they will report directly to the CEO overseeing Finance and will supervise the accounting sta of two.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain effective, collegial working relationships with staff, board, contractors, vendors, volunteers, as well as with representatives of partner/funder agencies and organizations
  • Advise on financial planning, investment priorities, short- and long-range finance goals, and financial forecasting to support organizational growth, sustainability and impact.
  • Develop and build support for long-term financial sustainability models.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports for the Board of Directors and leadership staff.
  • Ensure appropriate policies, procedures, and internal controls are maintained to safeguard RCF Connects and facilitate effective financial management.
  • Oversee preparation of annual budget and cash flow projections for approval by Finance Committee and full Board of Directors.
  • Lead and manage the budget development process, working closely with staff from the program and development teams and CEOs to ensure alignment with the strategic vision, budgetary compliance, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Work with development and program teams to prepare budgets, financial schedules, invoices and other reports for funding proposals and contract reporting and compliance
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors, and the audit committee of the board of directors.
  • Complete financial reporting for funders in close coordination with the Grants Manager.
  • Oversee all bookkeeping, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash management activities.
  • Maintain and periodically evaluate the effectiveness of all banking relationships/institutions
  • Facilitate learning and professional development with leadership team members to grow their abilities to manage their budgets.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of systems that better engage all staff in consistent documentation and practices.

Required Qualifications

Finance knowledge: Five years’ experience in nonprofit finance and operations. Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting/finance regulations. Knowledge of advanced accounting principles, particularly in non-profit accounting. General knowledge of payroll and tax regulations.

Analytical skills: Strong ability to conduct research, analyze complex financial issues and information, represent data in meaningful ways, and provide recommendations to Senior staff and Board of Directors.

Business ability: Ability to train and coach employees to ensure they meet the requirements of the department and job functions. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to convey complex financial concepts to those who don’t have financial backgrounds.

Software skills: QuickBooks, Microsoft Office experience required.

Interpersonal skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Solid commitment to customer and employee service. Ability to communicate reasoning to provide clarity on processes and changes.

Judgment: Exhibits sound and accurate judgment, can clearly explain logic and reasoning for decisions. Includes appropriate people in the decision-making process.

Adaptability: Adapts to changes in work duties, organization structure, and changing priorities.

Customer Service: Ability to work comfortably with diverse populations. Strong customer service orientation with colleagues, funders, contractors, and board members. Responds efficiently and cordially to requests for service and assistance.

Professionalism: Reacts well under pressure; treats others with respect and consideration; follows through on commitments. Completes tasks on time and takes responsibility for own actions.

Quality: Sensitivity to diverse populations and work styles, timely response to deadlines, and ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

Salary and Benefits

  • The position is a full-time non-exempt position.
  • The salary range is $115,000 to $135,000.
  • A comprehensive benefits package is offered.
